As the seasons are changing, I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on how thankful I am for the support that is shown to our school.
This summer, our community pulled together to provide school supplies to all students in our building. Through this awesome endeavor, they also raised enough funds to reimburse classroom teachers for some of the out of pocket expenses they incur preparing their classrooms for the beginning of the school year.
Our local VFW unit has been to school twice to take part in school celebrations for the beginning of the year and Veterans Day. Community volunteers are also in the building every week to help support the learning that is occurring in our classrooms. I can’t even begin to tell you how much our students look forward to these visits. The Speak Up and Pen Pal programs are staffed by volunteers and provide vital learning for our students that reinforces classroom instruction. I would also like to thank the army of volunteers that helped at both the school food stand at Calf Show Days and have provided support for student athletic events and programs.
In addition to the man hours in the building, there have also been donations of hats, mittens, socks, and coats for students in need. Time and time again, our community shows us just how much they value the important work that is occurring in our building and step up to help provide the best opportunities for our students!
Of all these wonderful things happening in our school community, I am most thankful that you are a part of our school family.
Wishing you a wonderful winter season!
